Colour on Bark
There are moments out there when the combination of light and subject creates a composition of unexpected power. I came across such a scene at the shores of Udawalawa reservoire, in the Udawalwa National park. Where a vibrant Common Kingfisher perched on a dead tree, its colours distinct from the moody backdrop.
The fading light, while subdued, highlighted the bird's vibrant blue plumage and the warm tones of its chest, creating a focal point of intense color against the weathered bark of the dead tree. Offering a natural frame for the composition, increasing its visual impact.
